Greetings!

Hello anyone and everyone!

This is my first attempt at blogging.  I read a lot of blogs, comment sometimes, and thought it would be good to jump in and give it a try.  The focus of this blog will mostly be on assessment and standards based grading.  I will have some asides as I talk about working with my middle school science students.  In addition, I do some amateur hunting dog training and have found a great deal of parallels between training dogs, teaching students, assessment, grading, and learning in general.

The first thing I would like to do is to go through the process I have used to set up my class and grading practices in a standards based atmosphere.
